Timeline of the Feitsui Reservoir Watershed
民國60年代起，大臺北都會區因工商日益發展，民眾用水需求大增，枯水期常有缺水現象，於是有興建大型水庫以滿足大臺北都會區用水近、長程的需求。 雖然人口隨著都市化的興起而增加，然而每年十一月至四月間的枯水期，因水源不足，需要執行分區停水。政府自1970年開始規劃興建水庫，1979年正式開工，1987年工程完工。
Starting in the 1970s, the rapid industrial and commercial growth of the Greater Taipei Metropolitan Area led to a sharp increase in water demand. During the dry season, from November to April, water shortages became a recurring issue, prompting the need for a large reservoir to ensure both short-term and long-term water supply for the region.
As urbanization drove population growth, seasonal water scarcity made it necessary to implement scheduled water rationing. In response, the government began planning the construction of a reservoir in 1970. The project officially broke ground in 1979 and was completed in 1987.
範圍包括新北市坪林、烏來全區、部分新店區 、石碇區、雙溪區，境內涵蓋北勢溪流域（翡翠水庫）、南勢溪流域與新店溪流域。 The area covers Pinglin and Wulai Districts in their entirety, as well as parts of Xindian, Shiding, and Shuangxi Districts in New Taipei City. It encompasses the Beishi River watershed (Feitsui Reservoir), the Nanshi River watershed, and the Xindian River watershed.
翡翠水庫食蛇龜野生動物保護區位於台灣新北市石碇區的翡翠水庫集水區內，為台灣第一個針對爬蟲類劃定的保護區。面積共有1286.52公頃，保護對象主要為食蛇龜族群與森林生態系。 The Feitsui Reservoir Big-headed Turtle Wildlife Protection Area is located within the Feitsui Reservoir watershed in Shiding District, New Taipei City, Taiwan. It is Taiwan’s first designated wildlife protection area specifically for reptiles, covering a total area of 1,286.52 hectares. The primary conservation focus is on the big-headed turtle population and the surrounding forest ecosystem.
